Nelson Lee Roy Wieting, 96, of Marlin, TX, passed away Monday, January 26, 2015 at his residence with his family by his side. Funeral services will be 2:00 PM, Thursday, January 29, 2015 at Perry United Methodist Church with Reverend Ron Oden, Reverend Melissa Graham, and Reverend Jim Newton officiating. Interment will follow in Perry United Methodist Cemetery with military honors provided by Fort Hood Honor Guard. The family will receive friends from 5:00 to 7:00 PM on Wednesday, January 28, 2015 at Adams Funeral Home.
Mr. Wieting was born on November 2, 1918 in Marlin, to Herman and Olga (Schmalz) Wieting. He married Emeline Lessman on December 21, 1952, they have celebrated over 62 wonderful years together. Mr. Wieting served his country during the WWII in the United States Army. He was a lifelong member of Perry United Methodist Church. He enjoyed woodworking and raising longhorns, but his true love was his grandchildren and great grandchildren. Mr. Wieting is preceded in death by his parents, brother; John Wieting, sisters; Viola Wieting Schreiber and Florence Wieting Dreyer and son-in- law; Shelton Grote.
Survivors include his wife; Emeline Wieting of Marlin, daughters; Nell Hegefeld and her husband Bill of Marlin and Gail Grote of Riesel, grandchildren; Justin Hegefeld and his wife, Carisa of Arkansas, Lance Hegefeld and his wife, Mary of Austin, Stacy Grote Pope and her husband, Joe of Speegleville, Stephanie Mims and her husband, Robert of Sugarland, and Michael Grote of Riesel, and great grandchildren; Jathan Hegefeld, Emaline and Logan Hargraves.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to; Perry United Methodist Church building fund, 193 CR 127, Riesel, Texas 76682.
